The beautiful city of Tromsø has an intriguing history and culture as well as being one of the best places to see the elusive Northern Lights. You'll also enjoy a thrilling husky-driven sled ride and experience traditional Norwegian life on this fabulous holiday.
Tromso, surrounded by serene blue fjords and majestic mountains, sits right in the heart of the Northern Lights zone, making it a top destination for witnessing this incredible spectacle. This morning you'll have some time to explore the local area. The Polar Museum is a short walk from your hotel and gives an insight in to the explorers, adventurers and researchers of the arctic region. Later this morning we'll make our way to Full Steam, a one-of-a-kind Norwegian restaurant-museum celebrating the cod fishing industry that shaped Northern Norway. We'll meet a local storyteller, who will guide us through the significance of seafaring to the culture of Tromso, and we’ll taste some delectable local cod delicacies.
We'll uncover the city's gems with a local guide on a tour this afternoon. The Arctic Cathedral steals the spotlight; this striking triangular structure rises high into the air and bears an uncanny resemblance to an iceberg reaching for the sky. We'll round off our sightseeing adventure by taking a cable car ride to the summit of Mount Storsteinen, which offers amazing panoramic views of the city below, and if luck is on our side, it's also a prime spot for catching the Northern Lights.

Today we’re off on a husky adventure! This morning we’ll enjoy a dog sledding tour at Breivikeidet, which is just outside Tromso, nestled in the Norwegian wilderness and serves as the gateway to the Lyngen-Alps. This picturesque location treats you to breathtaking views over the majestic mountain peaks and a serene fjord simultaneously. You will take turns being the musher of your own dog sled, navigating tree-lined trails and through open snowy terrain. Accompanied by knowledgeable guides, you’ll soak up insights about local wildlife and the daily lives of the huskies. After your adventure, we'll head inside to warm up by the fireplace and get a traditional lunch featuring moose or reindeer stew, with hot drinks.
The afternoon is at leisure to explore Tromso. As the world's northernmost university city, Tromso boasts a vibrant cultural scene, with galleries, museums, a lively nightlife, and a great restaurant scene. Conveniently within walking distance from your hotel, the Polaria Museum is also an option for your free time, where you can learn about the diverse array of creatures thriving in the Arctic waters.

Today is left free for you to explore at your own pace. In the evening, we'll journey north of Tromso to a reindeer camp owned by a local Sami reindeer herding family. We’ll try the unique experience of reindeer sledding and will also have the chance to feed these fascinating creatures. The setting provides the ideal opportunity to (hopefully!) observe the enchanting Aurora Borealis, and with any luck, the night sky will be clear for our enjoyment. We’ll gather around the warmth of a Sami hut's fire before enjoying a traditional three-course meal. We’ll then cap the evening off by listening to our local Sami guide share insights into the life of a reindeer herder.
Meals included: B,DYou'll transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
